This Breed was created in the United States during the nineteenth century when English Bulldogs and English Terriers were crossed. Modern-day Boston Terriers are smaller than their ancestors, who typically weighed around thirty-five pounds. The American Kennel Club recognized this breed in 1893.

Boston Terriers are well-mannered and have a gentle disposition. When properly socialized, these dogs are good with children and enjoy being around people. Sometimes this breed does exhibit some stubbornness.
These dogs are intelligent and alert and are thus generally quite trainable. However, they may require repetition in order to learn a task and some Boston Terriers are quite stubborn.
Boston Terriers are active dogs that love physical activity. They perform well in dogs sports and agility trials.
Properly socialized Boston Terriers are good with children, other dogs, and other pets. These dogs are generally affectionate and gentle, and make great companions. Boston Terriers enjoy participating in physical activities with their owners.
