Standard colours include solid brown, brown with ticking on the chest and lower parts of the legs, and dark roan either with or without patches of brown.
The Bohemian Wire-Haired Pointing Griffon has a soft, dense undercoat, a harsh outer coat, and coarse guard hairs.
These adaptable dogs are very intelligent and full of vitality. Bohemian Wire-Haired Pointing Griffons are also happy and friendly dogs that get along with children and all family members. As affectionate and loving dogs, Bohemian Wire-Haired Pointing Griffons enjoy human company and make great companions.

Prior to World War I, this wirehaired breed of pointing dog was the most widely kept breed of its kind in the region now comprising the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Although this breed nearly became extinct during the 1920s, regeneration programs were successful at reviving the breed and producing its modern form. Currently in the Czech and Slovakian republics, this breed ranks second among all hunting dog breeds.

Bohemian Wire-Haired Pointing Griffons are great all-around dogs as well as excellent hunters and retrievers. These dogs love to spend time with their owners and to go out hunting.
Bohemian Wire-Haired Pointing Griffons are relatively easy to train and make excellent hunters and retrievers.
These dogs are extremely energetic and require regular exercise. If isolated or left alone for long periods of time they may become destructive.
Bohemian Wire-Haired Pointing Griffons are not suitable for apartment living and should ideally be incorporated into an active, athletic family and have access to a large yard. These dogs require vigorous daily exercise as well as plenty of human interaction, otherwise they may become nervous and destructive. Since Bohemian Wire-Haired Pointing Griffons are skilled escape artists, owners should ensure that they have a fence around their yard that is at least 6 feet high. This breed has an average lifespan of 12 to 15 years and is suitable for most climates.
