History:

This ancient breed originated in France and possibly descended from the Saint Hubert Hound, which was imported into the country during the 1300's. Although still quite rare outside of France, the Blue Gascony Basset's popularity has been increasing over recent years.

Name:

This breed is also known as the Basset Bleu de Gascogne.

Temperament:

These dogs have a very gentle temperament and form a strong attachment to their owners. Blue Gascony Bassets are also very gifted hunters.
