Character:
Belgian Tervurens are intelligent, loyal dogs. They're elegant, versatile, and have a good sense of humor.
Country of Origin:
Belgium.
History:
The Belgian Tervuren originated in Belgium sometime during the thirteenth century. The American Kennel Club has recognized the Belgian Tervuren as a separate breed since 1959.

Belgian Tervuren, Belgian Shepherd Dog, Chien de Berger Belge.
Temperament:
These dogs are highly energetic, alert, and observant. They form close bonds with members of their household but are often wary of and aloof with strangers. Socialization is required in order to reduce the tendency toward nervousness and aggressiveness.

Training:
The Belgian Tervuren is a very versatile and intelligent animal that is quite easy to train for a number of different activities, including tracking, herding, agility, and flyball.
Activity:
These dogs are highly energetic and require plenty of exercise. Belgian Tervurens are happiest when they have a job to do.
Ownership:
The Belgian Tervuren is not the best choice for an inexperienced owner due to its high energy level and high maintenance requirements. These dogs also have a tendency to be aggressive and require proper socialization at an early age. However, for experienced owners, Belgian Tervurens can make loyal and fun companions.
