Approximately 66-77 pounds (30-35 kg).
Height:
Approximately 19-21.7 inches (48-55 cm) at the withers.

The coat colour of a Hanover Hound typically ranges from light fawn to dark reddish-fawn. These dogs may or may not have a mask or a small spot of white fur on the chest.

Character:
Hanover Hounds are active and vigorous dogs with a remarkable tracking ability. These dogs are also very loyal and affectionate, and make wonderful companions.
Country of Origin:
Germany.
History:
This breed was developed in Germany during the seventeenth century and descended from large bloodhounds that existed during the Middle Ages. In the nineteenth century, the Hanover Hound breed was improved by crossing it with other scenthounds such as the Heidebracke. The Hanover Hound was first introduced into France in the 1980s and is still a very rare breed.

Additional names for this breed include Hanoverian Hound, Hanoverian Scenthound, and Hannover'scher Schweisshund.
Temperament:
Hanover Hounds are very calm and obedient animals. When tracking, these scenthounds are determined and persistent. These hardy dogs can work either alone or in pairs.
Care
Training:
During training, Hanover Hounds require patience and firm training techniques.
Activity:
These dogs are very active and require lots of open space and daily exercise.
Ownership:
Hanover Hounds are not suitable for city living and require plenty of open space as well as significant daily exercise. While they are remarkable trackers, these scenthounds also have great personalities and make very affectionate companions. Hanover Hounds require regular brushing as well as attentive ear care.
