Just as humans have a number of common signs of cancer, there are also common signs of cancer in dogs:
New and abnormal growths that persist or continue to grow
Bleeding or discharge from body openings
Difficulty breathing, urinating, or defecating
Difficulty eating or swallowing
Loss of appetite
Offensive odor
Persistent lameness or stiffness
Reluctant to exercise or loss of stamina
Sores that will not heal
Weight loss
The signs and symptoms listed above are also seen in many other diseases or illnesses affecting dogs, and do not necessarily indicate cancer. It is important to promptly bring any concerns you may have to your veterinarian’s attention.
