American Curls can either be longhaired or shorthaired.

American Curls are average-sized cats.


American Curls come in many different colours, patterns, and colour combinations. Some common colours include blue, black, white, silver, and chocolate.


American Curls can either have long or short coats. Either way, their coats are silky and soft.



American Curls are very affectionate and playful. In most cases, these cats will act like kittens throughout adulthood. American Curls like to be involved in whatever their owners are doing and are happiest when they have playful companionship.

This breed seems to have developed as a result of a spontaneous mutation. First documented in California during the early 1980s, this breed had been officially recognized by 1986. Today, American Curls are available with either long or short coats and come in a wide array of different colourings.


American Curls were named for the fact that their ears are naturally and permanently curled back toward the centre of their head.


American Curls are very adaptable cats that can adjust to many different living situations. These cats are people-oriented and get along well with children and other pets.



American Curls are intelligent cats and, therefore, are relatively trainable.


American Curls are playful, kittenish cats that remain active throughout adulthood.


These highly adaptable cats make excellent companions. American Curls do well in households with children and other pets, and like to be around people. These cats are ideal for homes where they will have playful companionship and where they can spend plenty of time with humans.
