History:
This breed seems to have developed as a result of a spontaneous mutation. First documented in California during the early 1980s, this breed had been officially recognized by 1986. Today, American Curls are available with either long or short coats and come in a wide array of different colourings.
Name:
American Curls were named for the fact that their ears are naturally and permanently curled back toward the centre of their head.

American Curls are very adaptable cats that can adjust to many different living situations. These cats are people-oriented and get along well with children and other pets.
